Uhhhh Jimmie taught Stevie. They just have different styles. Stevie was very much influenced by Hendrix as he grew. I'm pretty much over all the guitarists that worship at the SRV alter. I mean "Pride and Joy" has become the new "Louie Louie"!. He's DEAD for Christ sakes now get over it. I saw that special the other night. It was a great and vast variety of styles of players. To say any one was better than the other is as stupid as picking one guitarist as "The Best". The list of "great" guitar players is long. Just for the hell of it we shoulfd start naming them. I think we would all quickly see that they are all great at what they do. Just that the variety would set them apart. One could ask themselves just why J.J.Cale was there too. I also think Jimmy Vaughn was there because Stevie could not attend. It was a NAME thing more than a TALENT thing.
I did find it interesting that Clapton only used Nathan East on one song.
