I sincerely hope he does, just for that reason - it'd make him much more of a formidable adversary and define his character as much more of a badass in the future if he does. He is a bit of a goody-goody, although he has proven unafraid to make the hard decisions in the past (e.g. shooting down Bulldog, etc.) He's certainly not a pussy. A bit of a goody-goody like you said, but not a pussy.

I say he launches but remote-detonates them before they reach the target though, possibly in response to Baltar and the other 6 heavy raiders turning back. Or maybe someone else does it, in violation of Adama's order. Lots of ways this can play out.
