What you saw was the "Crossroads" guitar festival in Dallas, about 28 months ago. My son bought me tickets for Fathers Day, and we went and spent the Day. He also bought me the DVD that you're watching. which is cool because it has comments from lot's of people about who influenced them and such. It was a REALLY good show. Clapton played a couple of songs with just about everybody. Backup band was the old Booker T and the MG's. I didn't know Joe Walsh had as much Blues backround as he showed. I really liked the "jam session" with the greats sitting around playing, you'd see them nod at 1 guy and then off he went, and it went for a while that way. Mutual Respect all around, a lot of Love happnin. A lot of different styles so you can't say "best", just a wide scope of what a guitar can do "when you touch it right". I dug the hell out of it!!!
My wife accidentally mailed one the of the DVD's in a return to Netflix, and I had to buy another. Found 1 on Ebay for 8 bucks I think, well worth it if you're a guitar and Blues guy.
and Janus, you're right ! Clapton can play! He has a great comment in there somewhere. He says, "I invited all the guys I've wanted to play with, and they all showed up!". He sat in with lots of people and always had something to add. A wide range of riffs he hears in his head that come out thru his fingers. Great Stuff!
