Okay to grind down an old weld near center tunnel?

The PO had seat cross bars welded in my '70 911T and i am a bit concerned about too much heat on the tunnel side when i grind.

So far i have used my sawzall to cut the crossbars and am now left with a fair amount of metal AND the bumpy weld which needs to be ground down. Will grinding this with my Dremel cause too much heat?

Also, is there a better non-air compressor powered tool for grinding welds down?

Thanks for the help-
Erik

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.
