Definitely do your homework, as others have stated here. Tire rack's site is a good resource, but like Tim said you have to read several reviews of each tire. Patterns will emerge, (pun intended). Some of the tires that posters on this thread are raving about have gotten horrible reviews overall from other buyers.
BFG ATs are a great truck tire, in all of the various treads they offer, but the are expensive, particularly the aggressive one:

One of the most important things to determine is which tread you want, what is the breakdown of dry highway vs. mud/snow driving? Do you tow heavy? 99% of U.S. SUV drivers would be happiest w/ an OEM replacement-type tire, like the BFG Long Trail that came on Tahoes and Durangos, etc.
I researched the crap out of this issue and bought new Toyos for my big F-250 4x4, I wanted load range "E" tires w/ a medium aggressive snow pattern that are good on highway. I am fairly happy w/ them, but they wander a bit on the highway. Quiet enough. Not cheap, but less than BFG ATs. They make a good tire for your truck. Good luck, and do your research!
