I had been having a bad car month. One of those periods when anything that can go wrong on a car does. I decided I had had enough and was buying a new car.

In the Porsche dealership I saw the exact car I wanted a nearly new 993. I politely waited while the only salesman explained to the only other customer that the new Boxster they had next to the 993 had the exact same engine and chassiss as the 993! The gentleman left saying he needed to pick up his car from the service department and get on his way home. He gave me a look that guaranteed he understood what a fool the salesman was.

I started the conversation by asking the salesman the asking price. He told me and walked off, leaving me waiting like a lemon for 10 minutes when I gave up and left. I was wearing nondescript clothes and the only car in their customer parking was the borrowed 996 I arrived in. I could have written a cheque for the car there and then and I was seriously interested in it - lost sale.
