I purchased a new car two years ago (only my 2nd new car, I usually buy second hand). In the process of test driving cars I settled on a particular make/model largely through internet research. I wanted to drive the car before I actually bought one however...
At the first dealership I went to, the salesman suggested I come back later when my husband was with me ...
On to the next dealership where I test drove a car, arranged a dealer trade for the color I wanted and financed (sorry guys - no big cashola) all in less than 45 minutes with my own credit thank you very much.
Just to be a stinker, I did take it in to the first dealership for service once, you know, just to say "hi" to the salesman!
