I love cars, have worked on them a ton for a few decades and loved that, too.
But I could care less about watches, washing machines, lawnmowers, chainsaws, pianos, snowmobiles, and countless other mechanical things.
Watches seem primarily like overpriced jewelry to me. I once read how much a Rolex costs to make, and how much it it marked up along the line (manufacturer, to distributor to wholesaler, to retailer, etc., each of who puts something like a 400% markup on it), and it was crazy.
I like most mechanical things, but I have a hard time buying or enjoying a mechanical device where 80% of it's price is on account of marketing, not labor or materials.
