The tub and booth will catch all of the thrown off dirty water.
Slate water is ridiculously filthy. Stains everything.

The tiles are soft, you won't hurt the blade in the least.

I expect you will spend at least 16 days setting your floor.
At $35-50 per day for a rental, I think a cheap-o saw may be you best option.
