I agree that this has been going on for alot longer than the Bush crowd has been in office.
Gore Vidal speaks of a National Security State rising in 1948 with the advent of the Cold War. The justification is that with Nuclear weapons being as terrible as they are National Security thrumps Constitiional Rights. The common good over the rights of the indivdual..
So long as I am the one who gets to say who the Badguy is, I have no problem with any of this...
