First: It's Flori-duh. You expect otherwise from the intellectual powerhouses down there?

Second: Drop the abortion crap. It has nothing to do with this. There are too many people on the planet anyway.

Third: The comment, "Has our society gotten so self-centered that some think of their own kids as disposable?" makes me think - at what point DOES human life become disposable? There are an awful lot of people here that think it's okay to kill someone who's done them wrong or done society wrong or just because they're in the wrong place at the wrong time (Iraqi civilians), right? Yee-haw! Let's kick some ***** and pass me a beer and one o' them hand grenades, right?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending this woman's behavior (she belongs in a mental institution permanently) but I find the comments here pretty trite. Maybe she realized her kid was gonna' grow up to be another Flori-duh white-trash meth-head criminal with a mile-long rap sheet of violent crimes and was trying to save the criminal justice system some time and money in advance. Who knows?

I do agree with one thing though - people ought to be sterilized at birth and only have the process reversed after procuring the necessary "breeding license". In order to get it, you post bond (as was mentioned - good suggestion), pass a test demonstrating a certain benchmark level of intelligence and education, pass a physical fitness test, have several personal references and genetic traits consistent with those beneficial to the continued survival (and advancement) of our species. To my knowledge we're the only species on the planet that artificially selects for WORSE traits in our population rather than better ones, determined by "survival of the fittest". Reverse Darwinism on our part will eventually destroy us.
