Now is a better time to buy than 6-12 months ago, too, because values dropped a lot with the release of the 997. I'm not sure how much that affected older cars like SCs and Carreras, but boxster values dropped a good bit and 996's tanked. You can find a 996 cheaper than a 930 now, if you look hard enough.

Komenda fan, I would definitely suggest checking out that Excellence article, because they really break it down into what makes the Carrera a better car. The consider all the angles - objective things like power, 0-60, space, comfort, cost, but also subjective - looks, sound, soul, etc. There was a line from one guy who preferred the boxster who said something like for a one night stand, I'll take the Carrera, but for a long-term relationship I'll take the boxster.
