I'm with Britwrench...spinning tires is not a good exercise for a college student who can barely afford this car. The dampner will be a 1500 dollar repair bill if you find a cheap shop. Not a wise move. If you intend to keep this car on a limited budget, you better take it easy on it.

Kevin....87 was a bad year for oil cooler seals but they seemed to have corrected the problem in 88. The new seals that are purchased today fix the 87 issue. As for do you need to change yours...probably not if you drive it often but if they do go, it makes a real mess and may force an engine rebuild...that's what I'm doing now because of that very problem. If you catch it early, then maybe there won't be bearing damage, but I've never been that lucky. Antifreeze if not washed completely out of the crankcase will lock up an engine or spin a bearing. The key is to keep an eye on your coolant level. If it starts going down and you can't figure out why or you see it in your oil or oil in your coolant, fix the problem right then and most say you'll be ok.
