Geez, man. Sorry to hear about this. Your decision I guess but for one, I hope you stick around. "Don't let the ba$tards grind you down", you know?
I totally see your point about the deterioration of life in the USA though. My hometown (back east, folks still live there) has transformed from a pretty decent middle-class Boston suburb to a damn-near urban ghetto in a lot of areas. It sucks. I hate going back there. In the parks where I used to play little league or ride bikes or just hang out with friends as a kid, now there are tweekers and meth-heads and gangsta-idolizers blasting hip-hop crap on 500-watt stereos from their dilapidated Honda Civics. It blows. I can relate a bit here in the LBC too (although you've been here a lot longer than I). In the few years I've been here, I've seen a lot of change - and not for the better in the vast overwhelming majority of cases. Too bad - I like this town. I thought it was one of the "best kept secrets" of SoCal for a long time and I rather liked the fact that it represented something OTHER than L.A. and it's "schit-pit" pseudo-culture. But it's being assimilated at an alarming rate. The distance barrier that I once took comfort in as a buffer against the onslaught of everything I hate in SoCal (namely L.A.) is quickly shrinking.
I'll stop my rant here though. Like you said, if I piss in one place too often or too much, it'll just start to stink. But I empathize.
Hope you stick around some. Cheers.
