10 years ago, 1997, 42 years old. Just had my last idyllic Christmas in the home my beautiful blonde highschool sweetheart and I had lived in for over 10 years. Our house was in the nicest neighborhood up in the hills in the town we had grown up in. Our kids were 14 and 16, stars in high school sports. I'd done EVERYTHING to this house. Extensive landscaping, all interiors redone, etc. I thought I would live there the rest of my life.
5 years ago, 2002. My "childhood sweetheart" came home 6weeks short of our 20th wedding anniversay in March, 1998 and said we were over, she wanted out
After two years of attempting to hold it together I had finally given up. I was out, living in a crap apartment with NOTHING. Financially busted, no house, NO car, and emotionally pretty broken up.
Today, I've recovered....and it was HARD. I found my girlfriend who is NOTHING like my ex and she is wonderful. We share many things I never shared with my ex. We've got an old house in not-the-best area of Pasadena, nothing like the home and neighborhood I once had but I have been restoring it for a few years now. Financed it over 15 years to try to "get back" to where I once was relative to being able to retire before I'm 80! My kids are 24 and 26. Son in married, daughter in her last quarter of Law School at USC. I bought a big Dodge Ram 4x4 to tow Jetski's we bought. Bought my 911 because I'd always wanted one and I didn't want it to be another life regret thing.
Interesting thread? You don't know the half of what this has made me think of again...and reminded me to appreciate.
