Sushi -- LA, this sounds like the place to be

Wow, a friend of mine who is a well trained sushi chef sent me this review of Urasawa's in Beverly Hills. Wow. I'm Jonesing for some sushi now.

I hate to give anything away, but the bill at the end of the article is $452 which includes, food, a bottle of water, a bottle of alcohol and taxes (but not the $100 tip). I've told some co-workers about it and they just don't see how food could ever be worth that much unless it starts and finishes with a "happy ending". Sadly, I can definitely see paying that much for a night of sushi bliss.

Actually my buddy had my wife and I over last night and made us a 10 course sushi meal (main course was about 8 different kinds of nigiri). It was amazing. He made Edo and Kansai style sushi. He's mostly a purist preferring traditional style, but occasionally likes to throw something less traditional and/or of his own creation in. We started eating at 8p and finished at around midnight with fresh homemade kiwi sorbet.

Damn, I've been ruined for ordinary restaurants and in the last year or so my tastes have matured so that the stuff that I like keeps getting more and more expensive. I'm going to have to get a second job to support my eating.
