I bought the engine at a steep discount knowing it had a problem.
He knew it had a problem, and was embarrassed as hell when I started the engine and called his bluff. I don't think either of us knew the true depth of the issue.
In either case, all of the accessories on the engine (carb, air cleaner, tin, working generator, etc) are worth way more than the $75 I have into it, and I think the cam and crank might be salvageable.
