We have the top half of a small mountain. Over 200 acres. The main house itself was taken down because of taxes in the depression. Most of the property back then was sheep meadow. Now it is mostly forest. Most of the farmer's rock walls pre-dating the estate remain..
There is the tiered garden, a sunken garden with love seats, fish pool, paths, lawns and pond. Most of this was completely overgrown when we got the place and we had no idea it existed.
The house we use now was a carriage house back in the day - the barns are gone too..
Nothing but work! But a great place to get away to!
