Most states have reciprocal agreements with most other states and many Canadian Prov's. One of the drawbacks of the modern computer systems.
If you cross the border frenquently, you should take care of this. I was on a m/c trip with a group entering Canada. After a computer check, they plucked one guy out of line. He'd had a DUI in Oregon and it came up on the computer. They required a $150 deposit to do a full "criminal history check" on him from both countries. They told him, he didn't get his money back regardless and they could deny his entry based on the results of the record check.
We left him behind and he sat there for 2 hours, finally got his clearance and caught up to us that evening with a lighter wallet...
What's going to happen to you when you pull up to Canadian Customs driving and they find your lic. suspended....Hope you live within walking distance of the border...
