Vaccinations - Pros and Cons ?
We are expecting our first child in March. I have been doing some reading on Vaccinations and am not convinced that they are the best solution for a healthy child.
It seems that the Health Care system is set up to give a lot of injections to a child at 2-4-6 months and some of the side effects can be detrimental (Autism, chronic colds, Allergies etc.).
Most people elect to have all of the vaccination shots as they are required for public school and it is often thought they are necessary for health reasons (not proven)?
Being born outside of the U.S. I had very few vaccinations and thus caught Measles, Chicken Pox, and Whooping cough before I was 4 years old, and didn't suffer any and probably have a better immune system because of getting the diseases.
We could get a 'religious expemption' so as to get into School as long as we decide to give zero vaccinations, but I'm not sure if this is a good idea.
At this point we are still gathering information and are meeting with a potential pediatrician next week and will see what their reccomendation is, I think at lease being able to choose which vaccinations are most important and waiting till the child has developed an immune system on their own is a prudent decision...
Any opinions out there?
Thanks for your responses either way.
