I did drive the S2000. Nice car. As you say, a "smart buy". Though I was almost pre-sold on e boxster since it was the first car in a LONG while that gave me the tactile feedback and "one-ness" that I wanted. I had the chance to drive a boxster extensively before I bought.
That said, I think the 986 has several advantages over the S2000:
- torque. Big time difference.
- ride quality - ditto
- interior space
- storage space - ditto
- top convenience and quality (to my feel)
The 986 is very much an everyday car for me. The Honda might not cut it in the same role - although it is an excellent and over looked choice. Might be a great track/sunday afternoon car. Overall I could not be happier with the 986, by the way.
