Business Week calls it the “Nobel Prize of Manufacturing,” and this year the Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufactuirng was awarded to 12 companies.

The award is given to those companies that excel in Lean Enterprise Management.

The 12 recipients were:

Autoliv Queretaro CMX Facility in Queretaro, Mexico, which makes cushions for airbags

Baxter Healthcare Corp, North Cove Plant, Marion, N.C.

Baxter S.A. de C.V., Cuernavaca Plant, Morelos, Mexico, which produces products to help treat serious health conditions in Mexico

Cordis de Mexico, Juarez, Mexico, a part of Johnson & Johnson that develops and manufactures interventional vascular technology

Delphi Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture’s Chihuahua 1, Chihuahua, Mexico, manufacturer of wiring harnesses for the automotive industry

Delphi Packard Electrical/Electronic Architecture’s Cableados Fresnillo 1, Fresnillo, Mexico, which produces wiring harnesses for the North American market

DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc., Instrument Cluster Division, Maryville, Tenn., a manufacturer of advanced technology, components and systems for automakers

Hearth & Home Technologies, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, a fireplace manufacturer

Hon Co., LA South Gate Plant, South Gate, California, which designs and manufactures workplace furniture

Raytheon Missile Systems, Louisville, Kentucky

Solectron Manufactura de Mexico, Guadalajara, Mexico

Takata Seat Weight Sensor, Equipo Automotriz Americana, Monterrey, Mexico
