You've got it totally wrong. In fact, the south is known as a land of hospitality. Just because you got some bottles chucked at you back in your long hair days (guessing the 70s since you won't say) doesn't mean everyone in the south is a redneck. In fact these days, there's far less bottle chucking.
Another thing, I'll wager that someone from France gets a hell of a lot better treatment in Alabama than someone from Alabama in France. Care to bet? Heck, I'll throw Germany in there too!
