hillelson1 - you would be better off selling your 930 and buying a corvette and being done with it.
You love Porsches but you hate the engines. Well then, you do not "really" like Porsches then. If you prefer the reliability and affordability of a Corvette then buy one. You'll be happier in the long run. They handle every bit as good as or better than a 930 and have the ability to make tons of power cheaply.
I purchased my 911 because it has an air cooled flat 6 in it, it has a disctictive sound and is unique. The bonus is an amazing driving experience in a car that just handles great, feels good under you and makes me smile every time I get in it.
I purchased my RX7 for many of the same reasons. I like the fact it has no pistons in it. Yet, many get frustrated with the engine and swap an LS block into it. Its a very common modification to this particular car and relatively easy to do.
The bottom line is you do what you want its your car. I personally think it turns your car into just another car and no longer a unique article. But, that is my opinion and you have to do what makes you happy.
