Didn't Paul say the input bearing is bad in the tranny? My 83 5 spd has a bad input bearing as well, its real poke in the eye if its the same part that I need, best price I found was $377, previous year is $55 since its common to some 911 box.

Its a big WYIT, but I would just plan on rebuilding everything from the flywheel back, Clutch, TT, and tranny. Other than a couple parts its not "that" bad, and almost 100% of the used 5 spds for early cars will need a rebuild. OTOH if you can find one that doesn't need an input bearing, thats $377 plus shipping you save. Also this is just a guess on my part, but bad input bearings go hand in hand with bad TT bearings.

Just don't get ideas about putting the AT out of the other car in this one.
