There was an upscale neighborhood in the Merritt Island area of Florida we used to survey in. We always warned potential lot/home buys to get soil boring done. We would not say why but would strongly suggest it.

The ones that listened to us walked away from the sale. The ones that did not purchased a nightmare.

The developer, in an effort to save some money, buried all the fallen trees and other organic debri about 6 feet under the ground.

When it decomposed it cause the ground to shift and houses to be destroyed.

I would not be suprised to find out the same thing went on here.
