Kid that used to work next to me was replacing a set of outer tie rod ends on a GM momyvan. The spindles are made from some type of alloy, not steel. He tightnes the first one with a 1/2 inch impact gun and shatteres the spindle. He gets a replacement spindle and installes it on the car. Grabs the 1/2 inch impact gun and shatters the replacement. While waiting for the next replacement he procedes to do the same thing to the other side of the car.
I finished the van while he packed his tools.
