Usually a master cylinder leak causes the pedal to stick down.
Have a look under the pedals (and down the carpet.....)
Replace both cylinders, pressure and feed hoses.
You will need a pressure bleeder to properly bleed the system.
Brake (and clutch) fluid should be changed every two years.
Timing belt? Fuel pump (DME) relay changed too?
