Murtha has made it clear that he intends to use the power of the purse to damage efforts to fight the war in Iraq. As the chairman of the appropriations subcommittee on defense, according to this
article, he “did not hide the purpose of setting standards for training, equipping and resting troops”…according to Murtha: "They won't have the equipment, they don't have the training and they won't be able to do the work." So much for supporting the troops.
