Katie,
Not trying to be negative, but this statement here is making you sound, well, typical for your age... That is "nice talk" for immature.
I think you need to take a minute, or maybe a year, and learn some more about finances. What would happen to your parents or grandmother if they cosigned for you on a loan (car, house, whatever?) and then something, God forbid, happened to you that made you, despite whatever degree you are getting, incapacitated and unable to work? It is not a nice burden to place on your family, no matter what their financial status may be. And, do not think that it can't happen to you. Quickly, I will tell you one of the reasons I decided to buy a 911 last year was precisely because "IT" happened to me. I have always been very healthy and in pretty good shape. However, I had a completely unforseen medical issue hit me last year that nearly killed me. It was not fun. I have 6 children and a wife to care for, and although I have been extremely blessed, it does not matter how much money you earn, if you cannot work. I decided to go ahead with one of life's dreams and buy the car.
Another noteworthy lesson about not buying it yourself is this: I grew up in what most would consider a "well to do" family. My father could have helped me buy just about whatever car I wanted. He was a streetrodder and I thought I had it made when I was 14-15. Well, then he informed me that his philosphy and rule was that I had to pay for everything when it came to a vehicle. Here is what I learned very quickly from that experience: TIRES ARE VERY VERY EXPENSIVE and BURNOUTS EAT TIRES UP VERY FAST!!!
Again, not trying to be a downer, but just some things to consider, not just in regards to p-cars, but about life in general.
Take care and good luck!
