I've finished a non-fiction book that I'd like to publish, but every publisher and agent sees no market for it. Yet, everyone I tell about it thinks it's a great idea, and everyone who's read the manuscript thought it was great. It's about the oldest operating saloon, in each of the 50 states. I drove to all of them (except HI, of course) in a 1985 Westfalia over two summers. Great stories, lots of American history, and more Jessie James stories you can shake a stick at. There's a lot about my travels, as well, since that was a big part of the story.
I can accept that publishers say there's no market for it, but when I walk into a book store and see a book about painting cat's faces, I want to scream.
I also have a movie script out, and I'm working on a novel. I get little chance to write now, what with 2 young kids, and my day job. And we just picked up an 8-week old puppy on Monday!
So, congrats, Dottore!!!
