After reading Katie's posts, I've finally come to the realization that we're dealing with a wide eyed, Porsche fanatic kid. Not a thing wrong with that. In fact Katie, you seem to have many of the ingredients to become a very Porsche knowledgeable woman like Lisa-someday. We all wanted to get a car and fix it up at one point. Many of us have, and learned the expensive lesson. Very few of us have actually done it with success. None the less, it's a lesson in life learned. You take the experience with you for the next time. Many of us are just trying to save you from making a mistake. However, sometimes it's our mistakes that define us and help us grow. As long as it doesn't send you to the poor farm that's okay too.
That said-Longhoods are the classic Porsche 911. I like them too. However, I would not recommend them as a 1st 911, or even 2nd in your case. If you really like the longhood look, maybe consider getting a SC that needs some tlc and drive it for awhile. Then, if you want to "make it your own" you could do a backdate. There are a ton of threads on this and it's very doable. You end up with a more trouble/rust free car that retains the classic look.
Last but not least, try not to anthropomorphize a car like the purple one. It's just a car. It has no feelings and does not have to be rescued.
