The Who? Maximum R & B
well dumped serious $$$$ on WHO?-tickets for g/friends b-day last night. actually played the micro-milli second punch the keyboard game with ticketmaster quite awhile ago when ticks went on sale and came up a winner.
outstanding seats...................OUTSTANDING SHOW! tragically hip opened(should have been BIG HEAD TODD and the monsters IMHO, but what do i know. trag. hip was ok, kinda got bored and decided to get some t-shirts. well that took some time. enjoyable watching an ecclectic mix of people walking by. mods/rockers/punks/hippies/ceo's/salesman/cougars/tweens/teens/glitter mommies/soccer mommies/old folk etc.
if you closed your eyes, you would have never known MOON and ENTWISTLE were gone. townshends brother assumed the classic in the corner bass position and was a mirror of entwistle. the new drummer NEVER MISSED A BEAT! (2) bass drums-(1) snare-(3) ride tom toms-(1) floor tom-(3)zldjian(sp) cymbals-(1) hi-hat. they were HOT is all i can say! it was MAXIMUM R & B! after we left last night i felt as if i had been hit by a FREIGHT TRAIN! total assault on your senses and i am still feeling it this am as i write. p.s. i didnt drink a drop!
they didnt really play alot of old stuff, but played quite abit off their new cd, which has quite a few good songs. townshend windmilled his ass off, and daltrys mic was a flying. watched drummer loose one stick entire night! they have found the elusive fountain of youth, unlike many other older rock bands.
the above opinion comes from a 49 year old WHO FREAK that saw them less than 6 months before MOONS DEATH @ McNICHOLS sports arena in denver, about 18 rows dead center from stage! ask me sometime about the 1400 mile denver to phx jeep tour w/ONLY (1) cassette.............QUADRAPHENIA!
dont miss them.............highly recommended
