Nice write up, I think many of us are very jealous!!!
-FYI keep in mind that today's modern cars, including Porsche's have extremely advanced data storage systems to provide dealers with all kinds of engine/system history. To this end I would not be surprised that if someone were to not follow the factory's break-in schedule and had a probem, the dealer could hook the car up to a computer and pull out details on driving history. Who knows if a dealer would then use this against an owner with a blown engine?
Now to be honest I think a 2000 mile brake in period is insane, and I'm sure that after 3-500 miles the engine is likely ready for full action, but I would be very carefull because all of our new cars have all kinds of systems that can be used by "big brother" to detail what we've been doing.
