I can understand what are saying, but the core of owning a vintage 911 - the driving pleasure - will you not miss that ? Or is it possible to grow out of it, as it were ?

Livi, it's very possible to grow out of things as society evolves around you. Not all evolution is good. When I enjoyed my cars Oregon had a "basic rule" speed limit, and it's population was 1/4 of today's. Government then respected individual liberties. Today if one is caught going more than 40 mph over the posted speed, or above 100 mph, it's an automatic loss of license and a minimum $1,000 fine. Jail time is at the ticketing officer's discretion. It's just not fun to own a high performance car under such restrictive conditions. Oregon has become a nanny state, with precious little individual freedom left.
This is only one of the reasons..another is that at age 63, putting the car on jackstands and crawling under to do basic maintenance and bottom cleaning just isn't the fun it was when I was 33. Downright painful sometimes, truth be known.
Dense traffic conditions make it more difficult to find a place to enjoy the car. I recently drove from my home to Salem, Oregon and back...an 80 mile round trip. I honestly doubt that a Ford GT could have made the trip in 5 minutes better time than our old Ford Ranger did...how could it in bumper to bumper conditions?
Things change....so yes, I've sold the car. No money or title has changed hands yet, we're waiting for Evren to be able to schedule a trip here, so we can both arrange and oversee the shipping of the car and it's spares, p-car books & magazines, etc.
Evren has given his word, I've given mine. We trust each other. It's a done deal.
On-Ramp, you can ask, but I'm not telling. This would create problems. Besides, it wouldn't be comparable to another car. Not bragging here, it's just that I've never seen another 1972 911S coupe in the same never repainted condition as mine. Like Bruce says in his valuation reports, there is Excellent, then there is beyond excellent. I really feel mine qualifies for the latter. I could have gotten more elsewhere. Being sure the car will remain in Evren's hands was worth a lot to me. Like I said, I was never into Porsches because of the money.
