Oil Pressure question
I have a 1989 3.2 and am seeing the gauge measure max pressure essentially as soon as the throttle is slightly depressed. My understanding is that this could be one of 2 things. Either my sender is bad (or the connection) or I really do have pressure that is too high (I do have some niggling oil leaks that this could be the root cause of which is why I mention it).
To check the sender itself, I believe that it can be checked with an ohm meter and that it should go to high impedance with higer pressure. Any idea what a good idle resistance and high rev resistance should be?
To check the pressure, I am installing a pressure gauge to where the oil pressure sender mounts. What should be a good range there? How many psi at idle and at high revs (range of good)?
Any other thoughts on how to test this?
Thanks,
Chris
