This, while not an immediate threat, is the most likely event to cause catastrophic weather changes on this planet. It's happened at least once in the past.
Near earth objects are tracked by NASA. You can go to their web site and see the paths these objects take when they pass, and the distance they actually came, or are predicted to come, to our planet.
