I'm not into the drift scene, but at least at official drift events, they are keeping the kids off the streets. The problem is when Junior decides to test his mad drifting skilz on a street and winds up side-swiping a couple of parked cars in the process.
Drifting is certainly not the fastest way around a corner (except maybe in snow-covered rally stages) , but it certainly involves driver skill and looks pretty cool when done properly.
Me - I prefer my slip angles to be closer to 10-12 degrees, thank you very much.
