Okay. I'll talk about that stuff. I like V8's. But......they don't make a Porsche faster anywhere except perhaps the drag strip. Maybe. Guys put V8's in 914's all the time, since 914's are a bit wimpy on the horsepower, usually. That would make sense except for one thing. Those V8 914os are slower than stock 914's at autocross. The reason? Because the weight is up too high. There is a reason Porsche was in love with the horizontal-opposed engine. Still is. Take your V8-powered whatever-car out to the track and just keep your eye in the rear view mirror because the 996 guys will be slipping past you.
