OK... here's a pic of an early VW Wabbit. Think of this as a stock 944, in terms of taillight configuration.

What I was trying to suggest, and probably none too clearly, was to take an additional pair of stock 944 taillights and cut them up in an attempt to "stretch" the taillights in, similar to the above.
