I know I'm not telling "the rest of the story." I leave that part for you guys.
Still, what I've said is true, and I have some real personal concerns about that. When I become Emperor, citizens will still be welcome to help shape public policy. Groups of citizens, too. Even a group called "United CEO's of America." No problem.
But the moment I see a connection between the corporation and a Congress member, that corporation's assets would be liquidated and there would be a vacant seat in Congress.
Government is about people. Not money. Not corporations. It is argued that money and corporations have peoples' interests in mind. I don't believe that. And even if it were true, citizens' input would not need to be augmented by a corporate voice. Money and corporate fortune are not proxies for the happiness of the citizenry.
Is there anybody who is not crystal clear on the brute fact that corporations' interests and citizens' interests are not aligned? Just let us know. There are many examples. Google "Enron." Don't tell me that what's good for corporations is good for people.
It is inappropriate therefore, for them to participate in the shaping of public policy. Period, paragraph, end of story. As Emperor, that is the first practice I would abolish.
