I think your being a little hard on Katie... not many people on the BBS had risen to your lever of maturity at 23... or even 33
My dad gave me $600 for a car when I (barely) graduated high school back in (cough) 1975... that must be a million bucks in todays dollars!
And I think insurance was optional back then.
