i've had the same snap-on flourescent light for 11 years.....i've replaced the cord numerous times from pulling it and it's a little warped from years of heat but still works like a champ.

the led lamps are nice but if you crack the board which the leds are mounted to you have to replace the whole assembly....which is more than another bulb.

buy them their next light, but make it clear that if they break it they will replace it with the same with their own $$$
