I am certainly not a John Edwards fan but given the experience of having lost a child, I wish them both the best and a positive outcome for this situation. It is not an optimistic scenario and I don't see him being able to continue the campaign but I would say that for him to immediately give up the run for president would have been an emotional burden for her. I believe he will walk away from the campaign in the near future, especially if her condition deteriorates.
