Funny, but I think this story should be taken more seriously.
I would think that political science is fair game and appropriate for study but high schools should be devoid of political statements sponsored by school activities.
I would however cheer any attempts to ease the suffering of the troops. I.E. care packages and letter writing campaigns as well as banners welcoming their return.


kach22i, I wonder if you would be as vehement about 1st amendment rights if the kids wanted to perform "The Passion of the Christ"?

One more point: I was in high school during the Vietnam war and the on campus protests and pro war rallies drove a wedge between students that had the occupy class rooms after clashes in the student square.
There are already far too many ways for students too feel ostracized without adding political pomposity to the mix.

Let's promote peer acceptance not choose side for slaughter with wedge issues.
