Type 4 VW engine... of course, your problem is going to be how fast for how long.... You could just build the 912 up "more". One of the 912ers from rennlists forums (Harry) had his engine redone by a well known builder a couple years ago, around 130 horses, should give long street life.
(If I were to swap out the engine in my 356C it would be for a milder Type4 - around 100hp or so)
