If drifting is the fastest way to drive, then why don't we ever see race cars in a race constantly sideways (on pavement)? Remember, I said "up the mountain," not through one tight corner.
The guy was just showing off and did some conservative sideways slides with lots of room to spare.. I bet he himself got a little worried on that one corner where he got within 3 feet of the stone wall. Sebastian Loeb would have left the color of his car on the stones.
And before you correct me about rally cars being sideways for extended periods, let me remind you that the trannys and drives on those cars cost as much as a used CGT. Very special cars of which there are no equals. Last I knew, the CGT was not an all wheel drive. The fastest way up the mountain is to drive the car with little wheel spin. If you still argue with that, then why is there such a big deal about traction control in racing?
Hell, even drag cars don't want any!
