Cool. I gotta make it back to my homeland soon. The wifey hasn't been yet, so we gotta start planning.

It is way off the beaten-path, but there's a tiny little town nestled in the foothills of the Zempleni wilderness/forest in the north east corner of the country. The town is called Hejce. Got a few friends up there. Beautiful town where time has literally stood still.

If you make it up that way, visit the old convent/monostery and make sure to stop in the chapel. The upper windows in that chapel are amazing -- actually, they aren't real, but a set of paintings done so well, you have to see it to believe it.

My mom grew up in Karcag, which is just south of Hejce, near a bigger town called Nyiregyhaza. All part of the great "Alfold" or great plains of Hungary.

Budapest, Gyor, Szeged, Nyiregyhaza -- all beautiful cities.

Gotta get back there...
