I have a 1980 SC motor that suffered from broken head studs. The outer gland of the head gasket groove on the cylinders got damaged from the head gasket falling apart and getting blown out of its groove. The cylinder walls are in great shape with the cross-hatch still very visible. Can I machine the cylinders to clean up the top surface as long I keep all of them the same height. The only dimension that would be changed is the actual depth of the head gasket groove. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
