My poop brown 911 sure gets a bunch of attention. Both good and bad. Some people absolutely hate it. Many guys will give me the thumbs up. It's almost a constant thing with the looks, stares and/or thumbs up.
Last year I got questioned in the ghetto by a gentleman driving a messed up Buick (he was hollerin' at me at a stop light - I thought I was gonna get robbed). He just plain loved the car and ranted about the color and how his BMW that he was restoring had the same color interior. Very cool guy once we chatted.
These darn 911's just plain have 'street cred' no matter what year, body style, etc.
Here a gratuitous shot:
I think too that people tend to 'excuse' a classic car from being pretentious and probably think an old car isn't going to cost more than a few thousand dollars once the paint isn't quite as shiny as a new one (patina fully in place) and the collector car plates are clearly visible. That's maybe why I get the attention ('street cred'??) that I do in the above mentioned car. It looks older than it is due to the color and the very noticeable collector car plates (issued in blue which is very different from the regular plates in white and only can go on cars 20 years or older).
